The fox within
Rishabh Rawat
Acrylic on canvas · 24 × 24 in · Original
“There’s a fox that lies within you, always hidden. I see it in the way you smile when you think nobody’s watching. Have you ever noticed?”
This work explores the hidden instincts that exist within every human. The fox is a metaphor for the untamed self: our desires, fears, impulses, and emotions that often remain concealed beneath a civilised identity. Its distorted, absurd form reflects the complexity of human nature, while the faded and caged text symbolise suppressed thoughts and instincts shaped by society.
Rishabh Rawat is a visual artist from Uttarakhand, currently based in Dehradun. A graduate of the University of Hyderabad in Printmaking and Expanded Media, his practice explores emotional vulnerability, inner conflict, and suppressed psychological states through printmaking, text, and figurative imagery. Through absurd, ambiguous, and deeply personal compositions, he transforms private emotional experiences into shared spaces of reflection, confronting themes of repression, aggression, fragility, and emotional release with honesty and sensitivity.
